Washington, DC - Tonight at 10 p.m. EST, CNBC will air an episode of American Greed, highlighting the story of Jordan Belfort, the former stock broker and inspiration behind the 2013 film “The Wolf of Wall Street.”

In addition to telling the story of the rise and fall of Belfort and his sex and drug-filled brokerage firm, the show will feature U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement’s (ICE) Homeland Security Investigations (HSI) Special Agent in Charge David Marwell, who will discuss the role U.S. Customs Service (USCS) played in the investigation and subsequent arrest of Belfort. After 9/11, USCS was reorganized to form ICE and U.S. Customs and Border Protection.

“Many special agents from the USCS and the FBI worked closely with assistant U.S. Attorneys which resulted in convicting Belfort and his numerous co-conspirators,” Marwell said. “This investigation acted as the model for future money laundering operations throughout the United States.”

Marwell will appear in the fifth segment of the show.
