Sacramento, California - On behalf of all Californians, Governor Brown and First Lady Anne Gust Brown honor Special Warfare Operator 1st Class Charles H. Keating IV, who bravely gave his life in service to our state and nation. The Governor and First Lady extend their deepest condolences to his family and friends at this difficult time.

Special Warfare Operator 1st Class Charles H. Keating IV, 31, of San Diego, died May 3 in Tall Usquf, Iraq, from injuries sustained in combat. He was assigned to a West Coast-based Navy SEAL Team. Special Warfare Operator 1st Class Keating was supporting Operation Inherent Resolve.

In memorial, Governor Brown ordered that flags be flown at half-staff over the State Capitol. Special Warfare Operator 1st Class Keating’s family will receive a letter of condolence from the Governor.
