Blythe, California - Yuma Sector Border Patrol agents arrested two men and seized one vehicle, four handguns, one gram of methamphetamine, and $4,835 in cash yesterday.
Blythe Station agents assigned traffic-check duties near Interstate 10 performed a vehicle stop on a Ford SUV but had to call in a canine unit to assist when consent was denied to search the vehicle. After the canine unit alerted to the vehicle, a search turned up four handguns, multiple ammunition magazines, one gram of methamphetamine and $4,835 in cash.
A records check on the passenger revealed an extensive criminal history ranging from burglary/vandalism, assault with a firearm, second degree robbery, grand theft firearm, and marijuana possession.
The driver’s criminal history revealed marijuana possession and driving without a license.
The two men, vehicle, weapons, drugs and cash were turned over to the Riverside County Sheriff’s Office.
