Sacramento, California - Governor Edmund G. Brown Jr. today announced the following appointments:

Simone Renteria, 43, of Elk Grove, has been appointed chief deputy general counsel at the California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation, where she has been acting chief deputy general counsel since 2015 and served as senior attorney from 2012 to 2015 and attorney from 2007 to 2012. She was an attorney at the California Department of Consumer Affairs in 2012 and at the Law Offices of James P. Cooper from 2006 to 2007. Renteria was an associate at Gutierrez, Preciado and House LLP from 2005 to 2006 and at Dunbar and Associates in 2004. She earned a Juris Doctor degree from Southwestern Law School. This position does not require Senate confirmation and the compensation is $140,916. Renteria is registered without party preference.

Michael Bradbury, 73, of Ojai, has been reappointed to the 31st District Agricultural Association, Ventura County Fair Board of Directors, where he has served since 2004. He was a partner at Alston and Bird LLC from 2002 to 2010 and served as district attorney for Ventura County from 1979 to 2003. This position does not require Senate confirmation and there is no compensation. Bradbury is a Republican.

Leah Lacayo, 73, of Newbury Park, has been reappointed to the 31st District Agricultural Association, Ventura County Fair Board of Directors, where she has served since 2012 and served from 2001 to 2008. Lacayo served as an account clerk for the Conejo Valley Unified School District from 1990 to 2001. She is a member of the California State University, Channel Islands Alumni and Friends Association and the Ventura County Women’s Political Council. This position does not require Senate confirmation and there is no compensation. Lacayo is a Democrat.

Ashleigh Aitken, 40, of Anaheim, has been reappointed to the 32nd District Agricultural Association, Orange County Fair Board of Directors, where she has served since 2012. She has been of counsel at Aitken, Aitken and Cohn since 2010. Aitken served as an Assistant U.S. Attorney at the U.S. Attorney’s Office, Central District of California from 2008 to 2010 and was an associate at Morrison and Foerster LLP from 2005 to 2008 and at Nossaman, Guthner, Knox and Elliott LLP from 2002 to 2005. She was president of the Orange County Bar Association in 2015. Aitken earned a Juris Doctor degree from the University of Southern California, Gould School of Law. This position does not require Senate confirmation and there is no compensation. Aitken is a Democrat.

Stan Tkaczyk, 69, of Newport Beach, has been reappointed to the 32nd District Agricultural Association, Orange County Fair Board of Directors, where he has served since 2012. Tkaczyk was president at the Rainbow Disposal Company from 1994 to 2004, where he was vice president from 1971 to 1994. He is a member of the Hoag Hospital Foundation Benefactor Program, a past member of the Hoag Memorial Presbyterian Hospital’s Neuroscience Advisory Board and past president of the California Refuse Removal Council. This position does not require Senate confirmation and there is no compensation. Tkaczyk is a Republican.

Gay Callan, 66, of San Andreas, has been reappointed to the 39th District Agricultural Association, Calaveras County Fair and Jumping Frog Jubilee Board of Directors, where she has served since 1991. Callan has been owner at Chatom Vineyards and Winery since 1980. This position does not require Senate confirmation and there is no compensation. Callan is a Republican.

Gloria Grimes, 70, of West Point, has been reappointed to the 39th District Agricultural Association, Calaveras County Fair and Jumping Frog Jubilee Board of Directors, where she has served since 2012. Grimes has been tribal chair of the Calaveras Band of Mi-Wuk Indians since 1990. She was a community health representative at the Mariposa, Amador, Calaveras and Tuolumne Health Board Inc. from 1980 to 2007. Grimes is a member of the West Point Mi-Wuk Roundhouse, Mi-Wuk Dance Group and Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 3322. This position does not require Senate confirmation and there is no compensation. Linsey Dale, 48, of Imperial, has been reappointed to the 45th District Agricultural Association, California Mid-Winter Fair and Fiesta Board of Directors, where she has served since 2012. Dale has been executive director at the Imperial County Farm Bureau since 2010, where she was natural resources director from 2007 to 2010. She was co-owner at Jim Dale Distributing Inc. from 1999 to 2006 and served as an account clerk at the Imperial County Auditor-Controller’s Office from 1989 to 1999. She is a member of the Imperial County Parks and Recreation Commission. This position does not require Senate confirmation and there is no compensation. Dale is a Republican.

George Shropshire, 62, of Brawley, has been reappointed to the 45th District Agricultural Association, Mid-Winter Fair and Fiesta Board of Directors, where he has served since 2004. Nicholas Bruno, 60, of Moreno Valley, has been reappointed to the 46th District Agricultural Association, Southern California Fair Board of Directors, where he has served since 2015. Marisa V. Yeager, 42, of Riverside, has been reappointed to the 46th District Agricultural Association, Southern California Fair Board of Directors, where she has served since 2012. Yeager has been a government relations manager for federal and state affairs at the Los Angeles County Metropolitan Transportation Authority since 1997. She was a legislative aide and staff assistant in the Office of Congressman Xavier Becerra from 1995 to 1997. Yeager is legislative officer at Hispanas Organized for Political Equality and a member of the University of California, Santa Barbara Alumni Association Board of Directors, City of Riverside Airport Commission and the Riverside Latino Network. She earned a Master of Public Administration degree in public policy from California State University, Long Beach. This position does not require Senate confirmation and there is no compensation.
