Sacramento, California - Governor Edmund G. Brown Jr. today announced the following appointments.

William Chadwick, 67, of Malibu, has been reappointed to the California Science Center Board of Directors, where he has served since 1999. Chadwick has been chairman and chief executive officer at Malibu Living since 2014 and managing director at Chadwick, Saylor and Company since 1985. He was a partner at Paul, Hastings, Janofsky and Walker from 1973 to 1985, served as an administrator of pension and welfare benefit programs at the U.S. Department of Labor from 1975 to 1977 and was an attorney advisor for tax policy at the U.S. Department of the Treasury from 1974 to 1975. Chadwick earned a Juris Doctor degree from Vanderbilt University Law School. This position does not require Senate confirmation and there is no compensation. Chadwick is registered without party preference.

Diane Hamwi, 49, of Los Angeles, has been appointed to the California Science Center Board of Directors. Hamwi has been principal and owner at DCH Advisors Inc. since 2008. She was director of development and marketing at EMILY's List from 2010 to 2011, western states finance director at Hillary Clinton for President from 2007 to 2008 and national finance director at Jon Tester for Senate in 2006. Hamwi was an independent political consultant from 2003 to 2008, Southern California finance director for the Governor Gray Davis Reelection Campaign from 2001 to 2002 and interim director at the Governor’s Office on Service and Volunteerism in 2000. She served as a policy analyst at the Governor’s Office of Planning and Research from 1999 to 2000 and was a fundraiser at Jane Harman for Governor in 1998. Hamwi was an account executive at Rogers and Associates from 1997 to 1998 and special assistant to the state director of the Clinton-Gore coordinated campaign in California from 1995 to 1996. Hamwi earned a Master of Public Administration degree from the George Washington University School of Public Policy and Public Administration. This position does not require Senate confirmation and there is no compensation. Hamwi is a Democrat.

Alfredo Medina, 30, of Los Angeles, has been appointed to the California Science Center Board of Directors. Medina has been a legislative advisor at Manatt, Phelps and Phillips since 2013. He was a legislative consultant to California State Senator Kevin de León from 2010 to 2013 and to California State Senator Dean Florez from 2008 to 2010. He is a member of the California Latino Capitol Association Foundation. This position does not require Senate confirmation and there is no compensation. Medina is a Democrat.

Irene Romero, 62, of Los Angeles, has been appointed to the California Science Center Board of Directors, where she has served since 2010. Romero has been owner at Irene M. Romero and Associates since 2008. She was owner and chief financial officer at Kifaru Productions from 1983 to 2008. Romero is a member of the Brave New Foundation Board, Los Angeles Leadership Academy Board of Directors, University of Southern California, Thornton School of Music Board of Councilors and the University of California, Los Angeles College of Life Sciences Board. This position does not require Senate confirmation and there is no compensation. Romero is a Democrat.

Stanley Shuster, 54, of Los Angeles, has been appointed to the California Science Center Board of Directors. Shuster has been president at Grand Havana Enterprises Inc. since 1994. He was vice president of artist and repertoire at JRS Records from 1990 to 1994. Shuster is a member of the California Highway Patrol Citizens Advisory Board and the U.S. Air Force Thunderbirds. This position does not require Senate confirmation and there is no compensation. Shuster is a Republican.

Joel Strom, 61, of Los Angeles, has been appointed to the California Science Center Board of Directors, where he has served since 2006. Strom has been owner, operator and dentist at Strom and Associates since 1979. He is a fellow at the University of Southern California, Jesse M. Unruh Institute of Politics. Strom earned a Doctor of Dental Surgery degree from the University of the Pacific School of Dentistry and a Master of Science degree in human nutrition from Columbia University. This position does not require Senate confirmation and there is no compensation. Strom is a Republican.

Fabian Wesson, 61, of Los Angeles, has been appointed to the California Science Center Board of Directors, where she has served since 2002. Wesson has been a consultant to California State Senate President pro Tempore Kevin de León since 2015. She was a consultant to California State Senate President pro Tempore Darrell Steinberg from 2009 to 2015 and to California State Assemblymember Mervyn Dymally from 2005 to 2009. Wesson was an administrative director at the First African Methodist Episcopal Church of Los Angeles from 1998 to 2004. She is a member of the Delta Sigma Theta Sorority Inc. Century City Alumnae Chapter Board, 10th Council District Women’s Steering Committee, New Frontier Democratic Club and the Tee Divas and Dudes Golf Club. This position does not require Senate confirmation and there is no compensation. Wesson is a Democrat.
