Calexico, California - Assemblymember Eduardo Garcia will be spearheading a discussion this Friday with the State Assembly Committee on Environmental Safety and Toxic Materials in regards to the latest restoration efforts that have been taken place at the New River and the surrounding border region area.

“The New River is considered one of the most polluted rivers in America. I invite the entire public to join me in Calexico on Friday to learn more about the New River, its remaining environmental issues, and discuss our ongoing efforts to improve the river’s ecology,” stated Garcia.

The committee’s primary jurisdictions are toxic substances, hazardous materials, hazardous waste regulation, drinking water regulation, and pesticides.
