Sacramento, California - June 18-24 is “Pollinator Week,” a time to spotlight the need to maintain pollinator health, including the serious issue of declining bee populations. Pollinator Week was originally created by Congress 11 years ago and has now grown into an international celebration of the valuable ecosystem services provided by the “B’s:” birds, butterflies, bees, bats and beetles.

Sacramento, California - A former special agent for the Internal Revenue Service Criminal Investigation (IRS-CI) Division was convicted on June 15 after a jury in Sacramento, California found her guilty of filing false tax returns, obstruction of justice and stealing government money, announced Principal Deputy Assistant Attorney General Richard E. Zuckerman of the Justice Department’s Tax Division and Acting U.S. Attorney Alex G. Tse for the Northern District of California.

San Jose, California - Peter C. Chang, founder and former chief executive officer of a Sunnyvale-based fiber optics equipment maker, was sentenced to 24 months in prison Wednesday for insider trading and tender offer fraud, announced Acting United States Attorney Alex G. Tse and Federal Bureau of Investigation Special Agent in Charge John F. Bennett.  The sentence was handed down by the Honorable Lucy H. Koh, United States District Judge.

Sacramento, California - Kevin Joseph Martin, 43, of Sacramento, pleaded guilty Thursday to one count of attempting to entice a child to engage in illegal sexual activity, U.S. Attorney McGregor W. Scott announced.

San Francisco, California - Naum Morgovsky, 69, and Irina Morgovsky, 66, both of Hillsborough, California, pleaded guilty Tuesday for their respective roles in a scheme to export components for the production of night vision and thermal devices in violation of the Arms Export Control Act. Naum Morgovsky also pleaded guilty to laundering the proceeds of from the scheme.
