Sacramento, California - Food cold chain technologies such as computer vision, artificial intelligence and data analysis are tracking fresh produce from the farm to trucks to stores in an effort to reduce food waste.

San Diego, California - San Diego Zoo Global conservationists, in partnership with the U.S. Geological Survey (USGS), Edwards Air Force Base, Cadiz, Inc., and the Bureau of Land Management (BLM), are working to learn more about the science of successful reintroduction and relocation of species through a grant from the California Energy Commission.  Working with Agassiz’s desert tortoises in California, the collaborative effort will  rear juveniles of this species, using head-starting techniques designed to increase the survival rate for young tortoises—and then follow them once they are reintroduced into native habitat.
