Peacefully resolving conflicts is becoming a hallmark of your nation, and will surely fortify your efforts to build a more prosperous future for all Timorese.

"The United States appreciates Timor-Leste as a valued friend and reliable voice on human rights, democracy, and regional security. The friendship between Timor-Leste and the United States is rooted in mutually held beliefs of liberty and equality, and this bond is enhanced by our work together toward the goals we share.
